Becca raises over £1400 for Devon Young Carers

You may recall that Becca Mawson from our Coffee Shop cycled over 100 miles in one day last month, to raise money for Devon Young Carers.  It is a fantastic achievement and we are very grateful to all the customers who sponsored her.

Becca was accompanied by her Dad on this epic ride cycling from her home in Seaton to Sidmouth.  From there she went on to Axminster and popped into the Coffee Shop for light refreshments.  After a short break they then hit the road for Dorchester and they stopped at Goulds Department Stores.  Their final target was Goulds Garden Centre in Weymouth.  Finally they made their weary way back home!  Becca even cycled in to work the following day.

It was lovely to hear the shout out on Heart FM, wishing Becca luck.  Here is the clip.  With grateful thanks to our friend Matt and his co-presenter Victoria on the Breakfast Show.

Thanks for the Memories!

Today we welcomed a visit from two volunteers from our Charity of the Year, Sid Valley Memory Café.  We learnt about the aims of this local charity, the only one of its kind in the Sid Valley area.

We also watched a charming video showing how different generations can help each other and learnt how memory problems can affect a person's life.

We are kick-starting our staff fundraising this week, to coincide with this, by having a cake bake!  Can't go wrong with cakes raising money for charity!

If you would like to know more about our charity, or perhaps you know someone who would benefit from the Memory Café, please contact them through their website or pick up a leaflet from instore.

Staff choose Sid Valley Memory Café as Charity of the Year 2015

Staff voted for their choice of charity at an annual event held this week.

It is particularly appropriate that the 'winning' charity is Sid Valley Memory Café, as customer facing staff were given dementia awareness training in 2014.

The company has long supported local charities and staff will be fundraising in different ways throughout the year - although it frequently involves cake bakes!

Sid Valley Memory Café is quite possibly the most local charity that the company has supported!

Over £1,200 raised for The Wedding Wishing Well Foundation

We were delighted to present Naomi Thomas, founder of the Wedding Wishing Well Foundation, with a cheque for £1,206 this morning.  Our fundraising in 2014 included cake bakes, raffles, second sales and collecting tins.  Naomi, in turn thanked the staff for their support and told how this money would be put to very good use.

We would like to thank our customers who have supported this charity throughout 2014.

Fields motorbike!
Fields motorbike!

As some of you will know, each year Fields' members of staff choose a local (normally small) charity to support throughout the year.  In 2013 they chose Devon Freewheelers (Blood bikes).

We are delighted that the sum raised was sufficient to help fund another bike for this amazing charity.

For more information about Devon Freewheelers please visit http://bloodbikes.org/.  You never know, if it might be YOU or a member of your family they next help!
