Together We Recycle - Triumph Launch

Together We Recycle - Triumph Launch

How does “Together We Recycle” program work?

Triumph collects unwanted bras from its customers, making it as easy as possible for them to dispose of used clothes more sustainably. As a thank you treat for helping us divert used clothing from the landfill, customers can save up £10 on purchase of a new Triumph bra. Used garments are sent to Triumph then to central warehouses from where TEXAID picks them up.

Which items are accepted for being collected at Fields of Sidmouth Lingerie Dapartment Store collecting points?

Clean and dry clothing (including underwear - bras, briefs, and bodies-, swimwear, homeware, activewear, knitted underwear) of any brands are welcome. (Fields of Sidmouth do not collect shoes, bedding, pillows, quilts, coats, etc.)

What happens to the used bras?

TEXAIDs aim is to recycle textiles and preserve resources as a result. TEXAID achieves a second-hand value between 50 and 65 per cent, well above the European industry average of around 45 to 50 per cent.

Around 30 per cent of the items collected is badly damaged textiles. Around half of these, i.e. 15 per cent, can be made into cleaning cloths that are used for cleaning and polishing.

Another 15 per cent are sent for textile recycling – they are shredded and mixed with other materials to be made into raw materials or transformed into insulating materials.

Only between 5 and 15 per cent of the items collected are textile waste or non-textile materials that cost money to dispose of or are sent for appropriate separate waste treatment.

Where are the used bras sold?

TEXAID sells used clothes and shoes in many of its second-hand shops. It also exports sorted old clothes and shoes to Eastern and Western Europe and Africa. Unsorted textiles that have been separated from obvious waste are sent to sorting facilities in Italy, Belgium and Eastern Europe.

Why is Triumph collaborating with TEXAID in the “Together We Recycle” program?

TEXAID is one of Europe’s leading organizations for the ecological collection, sorting and recycling of used textiles. The company employs innovative processes, professional collection logistics and state-of-the-art sorting to always offer high-quality services and products. TEXAID combines economy and ecology to ensure that used textiles are kept in the value chain for as long as possible.
